Musk Unearthed Evidence Twitter Had Been Suppressing the Conservative Voice 10 Fold Over Liberals
When Tesla’s Technoking made the decision to not only sit on the board at Twitter but to outright purchase the platform for $44 billion in October 2022, many thought it was a stunt. A large collection of liberals objected to the purchase, with many threatening to leave the platform if he took it over. Never one to back down, he did nothing to try and keep them, and Twitter (now known as X) hasn’t missed a beat in content since.
Publicly returning previously banned conservative voices, and blowing the lid off the NYT story about Hunter Biden’s laptop that Twitter officials suppressed were among the top priorities for Musk. Appearing on the October 31st premiered episode of the Joe Rogan Show podcast, Musk lifted the veil behind his purchase.
“The degree to which Twitter was simply an arm of the government was not well understood by the public. And it was whatever, everything was like Pravda basically, a state publication, is the way to think of old Twitter. A state publication. There was basically oppression of any views that, even I would say, be considered middle-of-the-road.”
He continued, “But certainly, anything on the right, and I’m not talking about far-right, I’m just talking mildly right. Republicans were suppressed at 10 times the rate of Democrats. That’s because old Twitter was fundamentally controlled by the far left. It was, like, completely controlled by the far left.”
When Musk had his first full day of Twitter ownership, he made the liberals start losing their minds. As he declared his intention to make the platform back into the town square it was intended to be, many worried he was going too far. MSNBC host Joy Reid went so far as to accuse Musk of wanting to bring back apartheid. She claimed the South African would be allowing racist speech on the platform.
Yet in December 2022, Musk did the unthinkable. With the announcement of the “Twitter Files” he allowed journalists to investigate the government collaboration and communication with previous Twitter executives. Matt Taibbi found numerous stories, with various forms of corruption were brought to light. Including the FBI warning Twitter could be hacked to interfere with the election.
Additionally, they unearthed more about Twitter execs efforts to hide the Hunter Biden “stolen laptop” case, claiming it was a “hacked materials” policy violation. The head of legal, policy, and trust at the time, Vijaya Gadde, was noted for being the central figure in the decision. With then-CEO Jack Dorsey being left out of the decision. Taibbi also found evidence that FBI officials were being assigned to search for Twitter violations as well.
Musk buying up a depreciating asset like Twitter was one of the brightest decisions to date. While the platform has lost significant value since then due to advertisers leaving, their integrity and the loyalty of remaining members are incredible. They see the value that Musk brought to Twitter, and fortunately enough, they are dedicated to making the platform soar again.
As disappointed as the liberals are that the platform hasn’t failed, we as conservatives should be proud of his success. He has restored the once-misplaced freedom of expression that the American people have forgotten. While many liberals have gotten comfortable talking a big game behind a computer screen, Twitter left them with no teacher to hide behind. As much trash as they talked, they could get it right back on Twitter.
Musk uncovering the suppression the left has been doing to the right isn’t surprising. As the mainstream media refuses to cover the story, many wonder if Meta will ever face such a question too. Accounts of conservative voices like Joe Rogan, Tim Kennedy, and Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) are frequently shadowbanned, blocked, or limited in their reach on Instagram and Facebook.
Having the ability to silence voices they don’t agree with has poisoned much of the world. A topic that concerned Musk deeply when he made this purchase. He admits many X users have seen a shift to the right since he took over. Especially since “everything is to the right if you’re far-left.”
