As you know, our southern border and the states all along it have been dealing with quite the crisis these last few years. Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants are crossing every month, and because of Democratic President Joe Biden’s open border policies, very little is being done about it.
This means that for hundreds of communities all along the southwest, their resources are slowly being drained, if not outright stolen, and given to those who have only broken our laws.
As you also likely know, state leaders such as Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Arizona’s Doug Ducey have begged and pleaded for help from the federal government. So far, little to nothing has been done. And so, they have been forced to take matters into their own hands.
In April, Abbott began a program that would take voluntary illegal migrants and put them on a bus headed for Washington DC. The idea was to bring the problems that Texans see dailybecause of this ongoing crisis right to the White House’s backyard. A month later, Arizona started doing the same.
So far, about 150 buses full of illegal migrants have made drop-offs in the DC area, leaving about 4,000 migrants on DC Mayor Muriel Bowser’s front step.
Naturally, she is none too pleased about it. Although, she didn’t start actually complaining about it in earnest until about mid-July. It was then that she wrote two letters to the federal government asking for assistance with her “humanitarian crisis” and the help of about 150 National Guardsmen.
So far, she has not received that help.
However, that hasn’t stopped her from criticizing both Abbott and Ducey for making their problems hers as well. In fact, she’s even accused them of “tricking” migrants into getting on the buses, implying that DC was not their intended destination and that they didn’t know where they were headed.
New York City’s mayor, Eric Adams, is backing her up, calling both governors “cowards” for beginning the bussing program and not handling the problem themselves.
Clearly, neither of them understands that some 4,000 migrants roaming the streets of DC, and according to Adams, some 3,000 in New York City, are nothing compared to the hundreds of thousands who have infiltrated the communities of Texas and Arizona.
And so Abbott, after their recent accusations and criticism, has decided to invite them to his state and let them see the proof for themselves.
In a letter sent on Monday, Abbott wrote, “As law enforcementagents along the Texas-Mexico border respond to thousands of illegal crossings each and every day, putting their lives on the line for Texas and for all Americans, the crisis demands the attention of not only the Biden Administration, which is responsible for securing the border, but of leaders across the country.”
He added that while he wholeheartedly welcomed the “recent interest in this historic and preventable crisis” coming from both mayors, it is imperative that they see “firsthand the dire situation that only grows more urgent with each passing day.”
Additionally, he noted that this would allow them to meet with border personnel as well as local officials to discuss the problems at hand and see what can be done if they are genuinely interested in helping out.
After seeing such, maybe the two could join him in calling on the Biden administration to actually do their job and work to make our borders more secure and safe for all Americans.
Of course, this would also force them to admit that they are wrong in thinking that Abbott and Ducey are only thinking about themselves or are cowards. They would understand that the “humanitarian crisis” the southwest has been dealing with is far beyond what Bowser or Adams could imagine nor could they handle. Clearly, they can’t even handle a few thousand illegal migrants, let alone hundreds of thousands.
According to data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP), there have been a whopping 1,746,119 migrants detained while trying to illegally cross into the US this year so far.
Not only has this already bypassed the yearly total for 2021, but it’s important to note that these are only the ones who have been caught. Each month thousands more make it in undetected. And each month there is more than the last.
And yet, Bowser and Adams think they have a problem… Yeah, right.
