Kamala Harris is currently on her second overseas jaunt, as she represents the Biden administration’s efforts to appeal to our allies in Southeast Asia. Harris was responsible for delivering a foreign policy speech in Singapore on Tuesday, presenting the current administration’s vision for the region. China’s incursions into the South China Sea were also criticized.
“We know that Beijing continues to coerce, to intimidate and to make claims to the vast majority of the South China Sea. Beijing’s actions continue to undermine the rules-based order and threaten the sovereignty of nations,” Harris said. Their goal is to reassure our allies. Biden and Harris want them to know that they have their back, even when Chinese aggression is on the rise.
Per AP News:
“The speech sought to cement the U.S. commitment to supporting its allies in an area of growing importance to the Biden administration, which has made countering China’s influence globally a centerpiece of its foreign policy. And it came during a critical moment for the United States, as the Biden administration seeks to further solidify its pivot toward Asia while America’s decades-long focus on the Middle East comes to a messy end with the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Harris underscored this shift, calling the Indo-Pacific “critically important to our nation’s security and prosperity.” She said that while the U.S. is focused on closing out its Afghanistan engagement by evacuating as many people as possible, “it is also imperative that as we address developments in one region, we continue to advance our interests in other regions, including this region.”
This is the part where we ask the obvious question: why should anyone believe a word of this? The Afghanistan withdrawal has gone about as poorly as possible. Did Biden even consult any of the NATO allies who are currently picking up the pieces first? It does not look that way.
Boris Johnson was trying to get in contact with Biden for two whole days once the full withdrawal began to take place. Biden was not taking his calls. While British troops were working tirelessly to rescue trapped Americans and British, Biden was ignoring everyone. There’s no way anyone could possibly feel good about his involvement at this point.
This trip was a terrible idea, given the current circumstances and we cannot believe that anyone thought it was okay. To make matters worse, Harris is not even looking to address reporters who ask for answers about the botched mission. When she was asked about the current issues, she actually laughed! The New York Post has more:
“A reporter attempted to ask about her “response on Americans” — but the VP cut her off before she could finish.
“Hold on, hold on — slow down, everybody!” Harris said, before letting out her now-notorious laugh, shaking her shoulders as she chuckled.
The VP finally controlled herself to insist that the Biden administration “couldn’t have a higher priority right now” than Afghanistan.”
Meanwhile, we will leave you with this incredible anecdote from the Daily Mail. It is real and it is spectacular:
“Harris, addressing a roundtable of business leaders before her speech, warned that climate change and the pandemic have contributed to supply chain issues, The New York Times reported, and suggested parents should consider getting Christmas presents now.
‘The stories that we are now hearing about the caution that if you want to have Christmas toys for your children, it might now be might be the time to start buying them, because the delay may be many, many months,’ she said.
So across the board, people are experiencing the issue.
‘And, of course, the climate crisis is fueling a lot of this. When we look at the stronger typhoons that have disrupted shipping lanes and sea-level rise, which threatens port infrastructure as an example. So these are the many issues that are causing these disruptions.’
We cannot wait to see what nonsense she fires off in Vietnam…
