The cancel culture of the left was ready to support anyone who wouldn’t stand for the National Anthem. After all, the anthem was written by Francis Scott Key, a slave owner.
And..and..it’s America. People have a right to do what they want. Sit, kneel, stand, do whatever you want during the anthem.
For four years, liberals continued to berate the National Anthem. Under President Trump, it was acceptable to even hate on the anthem.
Under President Biden, things are different. Haven’t you heard that he’s calling for unity?
So, the cancel culture wants to change their minds. They want to demand that the anthem be brought back. To choose not to play the anthem is divisive – and how dare you think anything different.
Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks thought that he’d give the people what they wanted. He decided that they weren’t going to play the national anthem. After all, if people seem so conflicted as to whether they should sit or stand, let’s make it easy.
Oh, no. Not during Biden’s administration. How dare he do such a dishonorable thing.
The NBA has stepped in to wipe any confusion from Cuban and any other NBA team who has considered abolishing the anthem from their pre-game lineup.
All teams have been mandated to play the anthem.
Mike Bass, the league’s Chief Communications Officer, explained that as teams begin to welcome fans back into the arenas, the national anthem will be played as a way to keep with the “longstanding league policy.”
The Mavericks have not had the anthem played at any of their pre-season or regular games for the entire 2020-21 season. While Cuban has chosen not to publicly offer a reason, he did confirm with ESPN that the Star-Spangled Banner had not been played – and they had not planned on resuming it until the league mandated it.
For those who are close to Cuban, they’ve offered up an explanation. Many don’t believe that the anthem represents them.
Source close to Mark Cuban says decision to not play Anthem before Mavs games isn’t because they don’t love U.S., but because many feel anthem doesn’t represent them, and they want to continue discussion of how to represent people from all communities when honoring U.S. at game.

Well, that explains why statues of Francis Scott Key have been destroyed all over the country.
Has anyone bothered to read the lyrics to the Star-Spangled Banner? It’s hardly a divisive song. It’s talking about the land of the free and the home of the brave. It’s talking about how the country was able to overcome a war in order to be the great nation that it is today.
If that doesn’t represent certain communities, as some claim, perhaps they find themselves living in the wrong country.
Cuban is looking to be supportive. If his players want to kneel, he has no problem with that.
However, he’s on the outs right now because the cancel culture has decided that it’s disrespectful not to play the anthem.
The league has made it clear: play the anthem. At least, then, there’s a song for people to kneel during if they do feel the need to make a form of protest.
The reality is that there are too many people who want to protest against a country that has given them the freedom to carry out their dreams. It’s funny how it’s the athletes who are being paid millions of dollars to play a sport that they love are the ones who are the loudest about how America is so unfair.
Yeah, it’s unfair to make millions. What a rough life. You poor thing. It must suck to be an American right now…
Biden’s been preaching unity. This is in spite of Democrats trying to figure out how they can honor unity while kicking Trump protesters where it counts.
What else will the cancel culture decide they want to take back now that Biden is in charge? It proves that so much of this has been a double-standard. Now that they have a Democratic president, there are going to be a lot of changes to what used to be unacceptable.
